This historic Seto ware piece was created through the collaboration of Ichiroji Tashiro and his brother Kyusuke Matsumura. The impressive bowl measures 46cm in diameter and 20cm in height. Master craftsman Kato Emon (Kanjoen) applied his exceptional skills to create intricate painted designs of birds and flowers on both the interior and exterior surfaces. Kato Emon, who exhibited at the 1876 Philadelphia World's Fair, was renowned for his works, many of which are now preserved in Western museums. This piece is particularly rare as it features equally detailed paintings on both sides, requiring double the usual effort and skill. The gold details are exceptionally well-preserved, with no cracks, chips, or damage of any kind.
